Columbia University Alumni · Mexico City · June 2026

This month our founder, Lubna Kayyali, will be speaking to the Columbia University Alumni Association in Mexico City. The chapter numbers roughly 800 alumni across business, finance, design, and the arts. The timing coincides with the FIFA World Cup, which Mexico is co-hosting alongside the United States and Canada.

The talk is titled "Gold as Investment and Memory: A Conversation Across the Americas and the Levant."

It will explore the long history of gold as a store of wealth that crosses cultures and centuries. Gold has been a financial instrument for five thousand years. It has also been the asset women across the world have used to hedge against economic instability, marital instability, and the loss of homeland. The Americas and the Levant are two of the regions where this history runs deepest.
